This is vitally important for artists who want to avoid falling into neo-extractivism, where participants from the communities involved never see the results of the projects.
"We want the people of Canda to have the opportunity to revalue themselves by seeing themselves on screen, to enjoy the aesthetic and sonic pleasure that the video concert provides, and to reflect on certain aspects of their reality with the necessary distance that the show and workshops allow."
The overall purpose of this Openlab is to disseminate the cultural practices of the Chope people, emphasizing the richness of their own knowledge. It is also important to work in the Maputo-Inhambane rural corridor, introducing the reality of rural Canda to the communities of Xai Xai and the city of Inhambane.
The workshops "Cultural Practices of the Chopi People" provide an opportunity to share the overall project and its interdisciplinary and collaborative process.
