David Aguacheiro

In his artwork he is especially interested in social and political issues, reconstruction of an identity that was destroyed by Portuguese colonization, the natural environment, and gender equality. Constantly seeking to question what is happening in society, and especially to provoke the viewers – provocation as a means to get people questioning and thinking for themselves.
He’s participated in a number of international exhibitions and residencies, highlighting “Being and Becoming” in 2016 at !Kauru Contemporary Art from Africa, several annual exhibitions of the National Art Museum of Mozambique between 2007-2016, art residency “SLOW Art - Social Life of Waste” between 2016-2017 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, solo exhibition “Take away” French-Mozambican Cultural Center 2018, art residency Catchupa factory Cape Verde 2019.
During his studies at ENAV - National School for Visual Arts, he had exchange experiences in photography, film and graphic design at the Icelandic Art Academy in Reykjavik, the Art Academy Oslo.
He was a lecturer in cinema at ISArC - Superior Institute for Arts and Culture for 5 years. Founding member of Video Art Mozambique Association and co-founder and director of emptyroom.art.
