Horace Lundd
Transdisciplinary artist, Researcher
Horace Lundd was born of a reflection on the figure of the artist that began during their studies at the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg. Their research has recently been presented at the Manifesta13 biennial in Marseille, La Bâtie-Festival de Genève, O. Festival de Rotterdam, MITsp-Mostra Internacional de Teatro de São Paulo, FIBA-Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires, Santiago a Mil Festival, as well as in Karnataka, Kerala and Manipur in India.
Horace Lundd lives and works between Marseille (FR) and Chandolin (CH). They regularly collaborate with artists, musicians, composers, directors, scientists and community members, developing trans-disciplinary and trans-territorial research. Their work builds poetic evocations sustained by effective, ambivalent tensions animated by vibratory presences. An approach that turns readily to the spiritual and opens up to the promise of an elsewhere, brings forth a new possibility - in balance.
Lundd spent their first fifteen years living alongside the Polynesians. The experience of insularity has inscribed in them multiple identities that introduce an archipelagic thinking and relationship to the world that influence and guide their work rooted in sensory experience, awareness and elevation, exploring the space between, traversing and perceiving in a quest to open up new possibilities and expand horizons. With the Witness project, Lundd collaborates with members of the Marquesan community, women and artisans, anthropologists, Marquesan teachers and translators, guides and islanders.
