Jeffrey Bujuang

Jeffrey is a Penan musician based in the Northern Region of Sarawak, Malaysia in Selungo. Jeffrey is one of the most famous musicians across Penan communities in Sarawak and has been making music for over 20 years.

Jeffrey composed the soundtrack and the theme songs for the film ‘TULIN’ (2020) made in collaboration with Mutang Tu’o and Blake Kendall. He has collaborated with such Penan artists as Rossa and Cassidy, with their music distributed widely across the state. He writes about the landscape of the primary forest before it was logged. His songs have been valued for their ecological and cultural knowledge that they pass down to generations of young Penan children born after logging.

After almost 10 years living in Miri and working as a civil servant, his songs also explore the subjects of life away from the land, living in the city. In the recent years he has returned to his village and enjoys fishing and foraging in the forest.
