Laura Jimenez D. Toledano
Social advocate, Environmentalist, Researcher
Laura is a social advocate, environmentalist, and researcher with keen passion to contribute to social development, gender equity and environmental welfare. She is an Industrial Designer from the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM) in Mexico, with an MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Edinburgh. She has been living in Uganda for the past 5 years, doing research about cooking traditions, and working to positively impact the lives of the most vulnerable people. Laura has worked in Refugee Settlements, villages, towns and cities in Uganda, empowering women and doing sensitization on the importance of clean cooking. Her passions extend to team sports, she volunteers for the A1 Challenge Ladies Basketball Club, and participates in outreach programs that motivate teenagers to have high aspirations in life and to work tirelessly to achieve them. She has volunteered for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, and the Mexican Red Cross.
