Most indigenous music and performance contexts are disappearing and may not be recovered if no safeguarding measure is put in place

A case in point is the Batwa people who used to live in the mountains and the hilly areas of Kisoro, their original habitat, before they were forced into semi urban shelters built by would-be national development organizations. Most of the time, such relocations pose a loss of cultural heritage without the consent of such vulnerable people who see no reason to hold on to a culture within a changing environment riddled by poverty or shifts presented by political imbalance and migration.
