It has been almost two years since the conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur, Northeast India began on May 3, 2023, yet we continue to stand strong amidst the crisis

We carry our resilience forward through art activities, engaging children and youth living in relief camps.

As part of the photography and visual storytelling workshop for children and youth at Mekola Relief Camp, initiated by Chaoba Thiyam/Siyom, we visited the Solo Painting Exhibition of Saikhom Nongpokhenba at Imphal Art Gallery on February 24, 2024.

During the visit, we explored how to interpret images, the use of color, composition, and other artistic elements. The participants also had the opportunity to meet the artist himself, who graciously answered their questions about his inspirations, color choices, and the deeper meanings behind his paintings.

Amidst the ongoing conflict, it was a meaningful experience to witness people sharing knowledge and learning from one another.
