Iulia-Andreea Smeu *KITE is a Romanian musician based in Basel, Switzerland. Within her work, electroacoustic sound (violin, live electronics) intertwines with spoken word and visual elements with the aim to create embodied experiences that facilitate self-reflection, while experimenting with the potential of hybrid forms of expression and formats. Narratives of identity - identification / self-fragmentation / alienation are themes questioned from social, technological, and deeply personal perspectives.

Iulia believes in the potentiality of sound to act as a vehicle for both individual and social change, using its capacity to facilitate reflection through re-contextualizing internal and external phenomena, by crossing boundaries and transcending labels.
