Celebrating Life, Culture and Resistance
In the veins of the Cajazeiras community, in the heat of the Brazilian Northeast, a unique movement echoes through the alleys and hillsides: it's the Soiree of the Waters, a celebration of life, culture and resistance organized by the JACA Collective

Under the cover of a starry night, the waters of the region's springs, rivers and streams are evoked as sources of inspiration and renewal. It is an invitation to contemplate freedom of expression and Aquilombamento (black insurgencies in contemporary cultural management), to connect with Afro-indigenous ancestry and to reflect on the role of human beings as guardians of the Earth and its resources. Becoming a quilombo is the act of assuming a position of counter-hegemonic resistance from a political body.
The JACA Collective, made up of artists, activists and local residents, transforms each soiree into a manifesto of identity and belonging. From the drums and beats that echo through the yard to the rhymes that flow like running water, each artistic expression is a testimony to the vitality and diversity of contemporary Afro-indigenous culture. But perhaps the most enchanting aspect of the soiree is the way the poems intertwine, like the roots of an ancient tree. Each poem, although unique in its essence, contributes to the collective narrative of the voice of Cajazeiras' youth, uniting its inhabitants in a shared journey of discovery and transformation.
In Soiree of the Waters, the river of stories that flows through Cajazeiras finds its voice, echoing beyond the borders of the community, to inspire and feed the hearts of youth for all those who let themselves be touched by the poetry of this unique encounter.
