Chakri Takpa
I was somehow fortunate to witness and record this rare scene at my friend’s house in Phayeng, Manipur, North East India.
I was somehow fortunate to witness and record this rare scene at my friend’s house in Phayeng, Manipur, North East India.
This is Chakri Takpa, the grinding of rice after the harvest. This sound and these images have been lost, even from our memories. This is not even practiced in the villages today.
This scene is nostalgic and brings back a vague memory of my childhood days. I love the energetic constant sound and the physicality of the movement.
